soul savin'

Well the attempt at church this morning was a failure. So I opted to go to my home ward with Kwiden at 1:00.
The tentative plan was to up and leave after sacrament meeting.
And of course, the whole meeting was focused on missionary work.
After the closing prayer I got up, hugged my grandparents and told Kwiden I'd see her at home. I made it out the front door and maybe a hundred feet down the sidewalk when all of a sudden I hear

"ALEXA WINN!"

.....crap.

It was Hannah Honeycutt, come to save my soul and drag me back into the building.
I adore this girl. But I REALLY wanted to go home.
"Come to Sunday School with me!"
"Erm... no."
"Why not?!"

So I start listing off all of these reasons:
"I don't want to."
"It's a bunch of old people."
"I want to go home."
"I'd be really out of place."
I also forgot to mention that I wasn't feeling well and that I didn't bother to put on my face today and I didn't want to see anyone important. I also could have thrown in the classic "My dog died" or "I have to go pull out my molars."

To each of these she had a better response. Finally she stopped me in my tracks with one sentence.

"If you want to be a sister missionary, you have to go to church."

.....fine.

It really wasn't terrible, but I got a lot more attention than I wanted. I was a visitor. A visitor who had decided she didn't need to wear makeup to church. Which, of course, draws attention to you like a fat girl in a neon purple bikini in Alaska.
All in all, it was good. I would, however, like to start a petition stating that church meetings be reduced to a half hour in length, making the entirety of the church service an hour and a half in length. Even 45 minutes. I'd be okay with that.

  1. I'm proud of you for staying. It's not always fun, but it's good to spend some extra time chilling with the Spirit.

Also: looks like I'm taking mission prep on Tuesday/Thursday, I think at noon but I'm not positive yet. Would that work for you?
