God and I had a little heart-to-heart tonight.
He didn't say much, but he was definitely listening.
I realized today that I have so many people standing behind me- like those Verizon Network commercials. And they're all pushing me forward and telling me that I can.
Thanks, you guys. I never noticed before, but it means a lot to me now.
I also realized today that if God wants something done, it's gonna happen. I decided today that I needed to read The Miracle of Forgiveness by Spencer W. Kimball. So I first checked with Amazon.com. They had used books in good condition starting at the high price of $0.08 a book (plus shipping). Easy. But I decided that I wanted to read it tonight, so I ventured to the book shelf in the main hallway of the house. I quickly realized that this bookshelf isn't really a shelf for books anymore, so I made my way into the basement. I immediately found a box of books, and with a sigh, proceeded to pull out the first book, anticipating that I'd have to sift through all of them. And of course, the book I was looking for just so happened to be the first one I pulled from the box. If God wants something done, He'll make sure it gets done.
That doesn't explain why it took 45 minutes to find my patriarchal blessing, however. It might have been because there were old papers and things from high school that I needed to see to remind me of what I'm working towards. I ran into my Seminary Graduation certificate, my Young Women's Personal Progress books, my Young Women's camp manual and my old seminary folder. Lots of great memories.
Goals:
1. Meet weekly with my bishop
2. Attend church every Sunday
3. Sign up for and attend an institute class
4. Pray daily, kneeling & vocally (in private and also with roommates)
5. Read The Miracle of Forgiveness
6. Wear modest, temple-worthy clothing
7. Serve faithfully in my calling
8. Read my patriarchal blessing weekly and my scriptures daily
9. Spend time on the Temple Grounds and at the Visitor's Canter
10. Switch over to a missionary's sleep schedule
The same goals I set for myself last March, but at the time I wasn't ready to work towards them.

You're right. There is an army of people behind you both from this world and the Spirit World, Alexa. You have so many people who adore you and want the very, very best for you. The decisions you make RIGHT NOW will determine how your life will be when you are my age. Look at the future and make those changes you know you are capable of making. I love you so much.

ReplyDeleteI'm glad you found the Miracle of Forgiveness. As for the Patriarchal Blessing... It was found. Sometimes you have to seek. But I have to ask, Did I do the right thing in rescuing it from the box in the shed or is that one of the places you looked?
