day 18 - your views on gay marriage.

How fitting.
Yesterday, October 20th, was dedicated to stopping gay abuse. Most everyone in the country wore purple. Well I don't know how many people actually did, but a bunch of people here at Dixie and some celebrities did too.
Grant and I discussed this last night.
My views on gay marriage are as follows:

I love gay people. So much.
I don't know if being gay is a choice or a genetic trait.
I do not know if it's hereditary or not, therefore I don't know if being gay is necessarily a bad thing.
I know what my church says, but I don't know what I believe.
Sure, maybe being gay "goes against the laws of nature." a plug and a socket go together, not a plug and a plug.
But I think that everyone is entitled to love whoever they want to.
This is kind of a big statement for me to say, but I think that a person should be able to marry a another person if they want to.
It's not like a man is trying to marry a dog, or a piece of cake. We're talking about two human beings who love each other.
And as far as gay parenting goes:
Yeah... the child might kind of end up a bit screwed up in the head. A girl might have a hard time talking to one of her dads about girl things... to be honest, I don't know how I would have survived middle school without having my mom to go to.
But as Grant pointed out last night, it's better to have two loving parents who actually had to sacrifice to get you here, parents who really want children... as opposed to two idiotic straight people who can get pregnant as easily as they can get drunk. Gay people have to go through a lot of work to have a child, and that means that they really want a child and would really care for one. And that's enough for me. The thought of having homosexual parents still makes me cringe a bit... but at the same time I've never met a gay couple with a child.
